Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a discipline related to
the biochemistry, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry. It needs a complete
understanding of basic chemistry, synthetic chemistry and analytical chemistry.
Chemistry is the basis of life and needs better understanding in order to improve
the standard of living for all living beings. Synthesis of various organic compounds
as prospective drugs is done by using the knowledge of the work done by eminent
scientists in the field of Chemistry, the upcoming advances in the field including
those in the computing which help in development of drugs. The department of Pharmaceutical
Chemistry is involved in imparting knowledge in the various fields of synthetic
and analytical chemistry. The department is well equipped with post graduate research
laboratories and an undergraduate laboratory including a well equipped analytical
laboratory having all modern equipments essential for carrying our regular as well
as research activities in pharmaceutical chemistry.
